Empowering Abilities Through Sports Recreation and Youth Development
The Youth Sports and Recreation (YSR) Unit plays an important role in promoting sports, recreation and youth development opportunities for blind and visually impaired individuals in Malaysia.
The unit encourages active participation in sports and recreational activities while nurturing athletic talent, building confidence and promoting physical and mental wellbeing.
Through inclusive sporting programmes, competitions, recreational activities and community engagement, YSR provides opportunities for BVI individuals to develop their abilities, discover their potential and strengthen social connections.
Beyond organising sports activities, the unit supports the welfare and development of athletes and former athletes. It also works closely with sports associations, educational institutions, government agencies and corporate partners to strengthen blind sports in Malaysia.
YSR is responsible for managing and maintaining specialised sports facilities, including Goalball courts, Judo facilities, gymnasium equipment, Showdown tables, table tennis equipment and tandem bicycles.
