Empowering Lives Through Skills, Education and Employment

Established in 1953, the Gurney Training Centre (GTC), Brickfields, is the Malaysian Association for the Blind's (MAB) dedicated Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centre, providing specialised skills training for blind and visually impaired (BVI) Malaysians.

GTC plays a vital role in preparing BVI individuals for employment, entrepreneurship and greater independence by equipping them with practical skills, recognised qualifications and workplace competencies.

The centre offers vocational programmes in administration, technology, wellness and specialised skill areas to help trainees build industry-relevant knowledge and hands-on experience. Selected programmes lead to Malaysian Skills Certificates (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia, SKM), while others are offered under MAB certification. Beyond vocational education, GTC provides residential facilities, personal development activities, assistive technology training, recreational programmes and industry exposure to support the holistic development of trainees.
