Promoting Accessibility, Protecting Rights and Supporting Lives

The Accessibility, Advocacy & Welfare Unit (AAW) plays an important role in advancing accessibility, equal opportunities and social wellbeing for blind and visually impaired individuals in Malaysia.

The unit addresses barriers that affect the BVI community's ability to access public facilities, transportation, education, employment and essential services. Through advocacy, accessibility initiatives and stakeholder engagement, AAW works towards creating a more inclusive and barrier-free society.

In addition to promoting accessibility and disability rights, the unit provides welfare support, rehabilitation referrals and community assistance to individuals and families facing social, financial and personal challenges.

The unit also conducts Disability-Related Services Training (DRST) to help organisations better understand visual impairment and provide more inclusive services.
